On January 20, 2016 Filaret, the head of the Holy Patriarch of Kyiv and All Russia-Ukraine, Filaret, was greeted by the Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, Gleb Prigunov, with his wife Yulia, to congratulate the Head of the Church on the 88th anniversary of his birth. Also present at the meeting were: Bishop of Dnieper and Kryvyi Rih Simeon, abbot of the Metropolitan Church of the Nativity of Christ at the hem of Prot. Mykola Salabai and President of the International Solidarity Charitable Foundation Alexander Petrovsky.
Gleb wished the Head of the Ukrainian Church to continue wisely leading the Ukrainian congregation, affirming the faith and helping our country to become more independent and strong. Patriarch Filaret, in turn, thanked for the warm congratulations, and especially for the support of the Kiev Patriarchate in the Dnipropetrovsk region, which has now become a frontline zone during the war. His Holiness spoke about the negotiations that the UOC of the Kiev Patriarchate is having with the Ecumenical Patriarchate on the recognition of the autocephaly of the Ukrainian Church, which is necessary for the formation of a single Local Church, which will also help the state to assert its sovereignty and develop public society.
Thanks to the works suffered, the Holy Bishop awarded the Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council Gleb Prigunov with the Order of Saint Equal Apostle Grand Prince Vladimir of the III degree. The President of the International Charitable Foundation "Solidarity" Alexander Petrovsky was awarded the Blessing Certificate of Honor.
The chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk regional council Glib Prygunov said that the Dnipropetrovsk region during the anti-terrorist operation in the east of Ukraine fulfills a special mission in defense of the Fatherland.
