Patriarch Filaret awards participants of the "Kindness Backpack" rally
On October 20, 2016, the Holy Patriarch of Kyiv and All Russia-Ukraine Filaret met with volunteers who took an active part in the All-Ukrainian action to help first-graders who suffered as a result of the fighting in Donbass.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the Synodal Department of Social Service and Charity "Eleos-Ukraine" Archpriest Sergei Dmitriev.
The head of the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate noted the importance of this mission and thanked the participants of the “Kindness Kindness” rally and awarded the Patriarchal Blessing Certificates.
“I thank you for helping the students who are in a very difficult situation. Your activity is the manifestation of Christian love for your neighbor, about which Jesus Christ said the greatest and most important commandment is love for God and love for your neighbor. You show that love. I also thank you for your work, for your charity, for your love for children, and I want to reward you today with Patriarchal Blessings, ”said Patriarch Filaret.
His Holiness told the guests about the active social work of the UOC-Kyiv Patriarchate, which is carried out through the Synodal Department of Social Service and Charity.
At the end of the meeting, Patriarch Filaret blessed the guests for continued active work in helping those in need.
Recall that on August 12, 2016, the Holy Patriarch of Kyiv and All Russia-Ukraine Filaret started an All-Ukrainian action to help first-class children who suffered as a result of the fighting in Donbass.
At the call of the Primate of the Ukrainian Church, many indifferent Ukrainians, clergymen of our Church and other denominations, parishioners of Holy Ascension Cathedral in New Jersey (USA) responded. In 24 days, backpacks totaling about one million hryvnias were collected, which made it possible to provide 800 first-graders with backpacks.
