Nikita Matlashevsky, a Dnieper, became the silver medalist at the European Junior Judo Championship, athletes not older than 21 years. This is a great achievement of the representative of the sports club "Judo-80"
The Continental Championship was held in Maribor (Slovenia) from 15 to 17 September with the participation of 402 athletes from 41 countries of the Old World.
On the way to the prize in the weight of -90 kg Nikita confidently won against Georgian Niki Sidamonidze, Russian Inal Taimazov, Armenian Grigor Sahakyan, and in the semifinals of Pole Yakub Ozimek. In the final bout with Frenchman Aurelien, Disse Nikita was nearly short of the highest test. Winning the Vasa-Ari rating, the Dnieper collected three shidoos and stayed with silver.
Nikita became one of the youngest medalists of the European Championship, on June 10 he turned 18 years old. Also note that this is the second trophy from the European Championship of the talented judoka. In 2016, he was the U18 European Cadet Champion. They train Nikita Matlashevsky at the Judo-80 club in Dnipro - Yuri Pirog, Anatoly Droga and Nikolai Katrichenko.
In general, the Ukrainian junior team at the European Championship in Maribor won only two awards. To the silver of the Dnieper Nikita of Matlashevsky bronze was added by Lviv Oleg Ovcharenko in weight -66 kg.
On the last day of the competition was held the team Championship of Europe, where our guys won the Netherlands 3: 2, but then lost to the future winners of the championship Azerbaijan 2: 3 and, unfortunately, were without medals.
