Ukraine will supply trams to Egypt
A tender for the production and delivery of fifteen two-section trams to the Egyptian city of Alexandria was won by a Ukrainian participant from the Dnieper: Tatra-South Company. Initially, 6 participants took part in the tender. The second round was attended by three participants: the Stadler company from Switzerland, the CRRC corporation from China and the Ukrainian Tatra-South.
The tender committee of the Passenger Transport Department of the Egyptian city recognized the goods and the conditions of its production by the Dnipro company as the most acceptable offer and issued an acceptance. On February 7 this year the parties signed the agreement.
On the eve of the tender, a customer delegation was exploring the production capacities of Tatra-Yuzhny company, visiting the facilities of the Ukrainian tram manufacturer located in the territory of the Yuzhnmash plant in Dnipro, where it was acquainted with the production conditions and products manufactured by the company.
Alexandria's tram network is the oldest in Africa and one of the oldest in the world.
Trams ordered by the Ukrainian manufacturer will have a high floor layout. This feature is due to the climate of the customer city, as well as the technical requirements for the harmonization of the parameters of tram cars when operating on tram tracks of the city. The articulated trams will have two sections and up to twenty-two meters in length. These were the requirements of the customer, which fully met the tender offer of the Dnipro company.
