In Sumy region, police seized a large batch of drugs
Employees of the search department in the Sumy region of the Department of Combating Narcotics of the National Police of Ukraine found a 44-year-old citizen, who was confiscated nearly five kilograms of drugs at home. At the price of the "black market" the value of the withdrawn is about 180 thousand hryvnia.
Within the framework of open criminal proceedings on particularly large-scale possession of narcotics, police officers found a 44-year-old resident of Sumy who, during a home inspection, in a summer kitchen, law enforcement officers found and seized two plastic bags of dry, shredded brown substance outside a narcotic poppy straw and three bags of dried poppy heads with a sleeping weight of about five kilograms. At the price of the "black market" the value of the seized drugs is about 180 thousand hryvnias.
The owner of such a "narcotic treasure" explained to the police that he planted poppy plants on his own plot in summer and kept them solely for his own consumption.
Seized substances were sent to the expertise of the operative-search department in Sumy region of the Crime department of the National Police of Ukraine for examination, according to the results of which a suspicion will be brought under part 3 of Art. 309 "Illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage and storage of drugs" of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
