Judge Chaus is wanted on the international wanted list
Judge of the Dniprovsky District Court of Kyiv Mykola Chaus, according to the records of the General Secretariat of Interpol, has been on international wanted list since November 11, 2016 for the purpose of arrest and further extradition to Ukraine.
He is suspected of committing a crime under Part 4. Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an improper benefit by an official").
We remind that on August 9, detectives of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine convicted Judge Chaus of receiving an undue gain (bribe) in the amount of $ 150,000. United States (over 3.7 million USD) for sentencing in the interests of the defendants.
On September 6, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine agreed to apprehend a judge and bring him to justice. Thereafter, using the judicial immunity of the judge, the suspect left the territory of Ukraine. On September 12, Judge Chaus was put on the national wanted list.
If the suspect's guilt is proven in court, he may face imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years, with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
