U21 European Cup: Three bronze medals at the Judo-80 sports club in Dnipro!
The European Judo Cup was held in Arad, Romania, for juniors and juniors, athletes not older than 21 years. 248 participants from 33 countries and five continents came to the tatami.
Three awards were won at the competition by representatives of Dnipropetrovsk. Anna Dancer (-44 kg), Maria Merkulova (-78 kg) and Nikita Matlashevsky (-90 kg) became bronze medalists.
It should be noted that Masha and Nikita already have several international awards in their assets. But for the first time in her career, Anya has risen to the podium abroad. All the guys train with Yuri Pirogo and represent the Judo-80 sports club.
Another Dnieper Giorgi Chochonelidze (-66 kg) finished in the Romanian tatami in the top five, losing in the duel for bronze to Ukrainian judoist Caro Marandian.
In total, the team of Ukraine in judo at the U21 European Cup in Arad has 11 awards (1 gold, 3 silver, 7 bronze), as well as the fifth overall team place in the medal standings.
The Junior European Cup in Romania is the final qualifying start for the official U21 International Championships - European Championships, which will take place on September 15-17 in Maribor (Slovenia) and the World Championships, which will take place on October 18-22 in Zagreb (Croatia).
