The ROC never recognizes the independence of the Ukrainian Church
The Russian Orthodox Church (ROC) never recognizes the independence of the Ukrainian Church from the Moscow Patriarchate. This was stated by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Cyril in the Church of Christ the Savior at a solemn event on the occasion of his 70th birthday.
In a speech, he stated that “our church will never leave its brothers in distress in Ukraine and refuse them. We will never agree to change the sacred canonical borders of our Church, because Kiev is a spiritual cradle of holy Russia, like Mtskheta for Georgia or Kosovo for Serbia. "
The Patriarch also added that the UOCs are now trying to get into a conflict that divides society.
It is worth noting that representatives of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate have repeatedly supported pro-Russian militants in the Donbass and also approved the annexation of Crimea.
