The critical trash situation in Lviv has begun to be addressed
After a long accumulation of household waste throughout Lviv, the garbage finally began to be taken out.
Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi stated that the city is on the verge of an ecological crisis due to the closure of the Gribovytsky landfill, where solid municipal waste was previously removed. Currently, important arrangements have been made to clear the city of garbage and transport it to regional solid waste landfills. The cleanup of the city began on January 26.
The reason for the catastrophic stagnation was the court's decision to close the infamous Gribovytsky landfill, where a fire broke out in May last year with a further garbage dump. During the incident, three rescuers found themselves in the rubbish waste, whose rescue was not possible. Subsequently, it became known that a dangerous crack, 80 m in length, was created at the landfill, which led to the termination of the landfill in Gribovichi.
Groysman, in turn, said that city officials are responsible for the garbage situation in Lviv. According to him, the budget of Lviv has enough money to solve the problem.
