THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT has initiated the creation of an interactive map of all Ukrainian landfills
Starting from September 8, everyone will be able to get all the necessary information about the status of those Ukrainian landfills that are in the territory of our country. It will help a person with this online resource, which looks like an interactive map with the points of garbage located on it. The initiative is to create a service to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources.
According to Ostap Semerak - Head of the Office - for the first time in 25 years of the existence of an independent Ukraine, the Ministry will begin systematic work in the context of waste disposal. And the most important task that a reformed institution has to fulfill is to bring the industry up to European standards, to deprive our state of garbage and to help the environment.
Currently, the Ministry is in the process of inventorying all Ukrainian landfills. It owns information on only about 2,600 of its total - more than thirty thousand garbage collection points, which include both landfills and landfills. Due to the constant updating of these territories, the interactive map will also be updated.
Ukrainians can also enlist the help of ecology by registering on the resource site and leaving landfill data in their city. This information will be processed and subsequently forwarded to the appropriate authorities in the form of civil appeals. Interestingly, in one EU country - Switzerland - the amount of garbage per person that is taken to a landfill is zero. In Ukraine, this figure is 240 kilograms. That is why, as Mr Semerak noted, to get later similar to Swiss statistics is another goal of the Ministry of Ecology.
