Ostap Semerak: “Plan of measures to implement new state policy on climate change submitted to Government”
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is considering the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Concept of Implementation of the State Policy on Climate Change in the Period up to 2030. This was announced by the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources during a meeting of the EUROPEAN Parliamentary Assembly Committee on Energy Security, which began its work in Kyiv.
The document provides a list of immediate actions on climate change adaptation, as well as the response to natural disasters and disasters that may result from these changes.
“Last year, the Government approved the Concept for the Implementation of Public Policy on Climate Change for the Period up to 2030. The concept is written in the spirit of the Paris Agreement. It also includes the Low Carbon Development Strategy, which sets out a long-term vision for Ukraine's transition to a sustainable development or sustainable use of natural resources model, ”Ostap Semerak explained, noting that the draft Strategy was presented to the public in late September.
In addition, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is currently considering a Plan of Measures to implement the Concept, which contains a list of direct actions on climate change adaptation.
“These documents not only define Ukraine's new national climate policy, but also contribute to the implementation of current low carbon projects. It is not an easy way to integrate sustainable development principles into national, regional and local strategies and development systems, ”Ostap Semerak summarized, noting that most countries in the world are already refocusing their economies on sustainable development.
