December 4, 2016 at the Dnepropetrovsk Academic Theater. TG Shevchenko hosted a concert-requiem of Vasily Slipak's memory.
Ukrainian opera singer Vasily Slipak has lived a short but amazing life. A graduate of the Lviv National Academy, in 1994 he won the Grand Prix of the International Vocal Competition in Clermont (France) and literally bursts into a bright star in the world of artistic beau monde, becoming a soloist at the Paris National Opera. The singer has toured all over the world, from Paris to New York, performing on the most prestigious opera stages, pleasing his subtle western audience with his vocal gift. With the start of hostilities in the Donbass, Vasily Slipak makes an incredible act: he leaves the stage, leaves the peaceful and prosperous Paris and returns to Ukraine. And already in his homeland, taking up arms, he begins to protect his land from the Russian-terrorist formations. Slipak's call sign was "Mephistopheles", for brevity - "Myth". On June 29, 2016, Vasily Slipak was killed by a brave man in a battle near the village of Lugansk. He was awarded the Order of Courage 1st degree (posthumously). The hero was only 42 years old ...
The organizers of the evening of memory - Honored Artist of Ukraine Oksana Petrovskaya, International Charitable Foundation of Alexander Petrovsky "Solidarity" and laureate of the international award - writer Arthur Balayev - have done everything possible to make the concert one of the most memorable cultural events of this year.
This evening, classical compositions and Ukrainian folk songs were performed, which were recently performed by a singer-hero. Also on the theatrical stage came the ATO fighters and volunteers, comrades and brothers Vasily Slipak.
Before the concert began, the audience was addressed by representatives of the clergy: the secretary of the Dnipropetrovsk diocese of the UOC KP Archpriest Vitaliy Lopushansky and the military chaplain Dmitry Povorotniy. They noted that Vasily Slipak lived a short but vibrant earthly life that became an example of courage and patriotism for all Ukrainians.
The concert ended with the national anthem of Ukraine and deafening applause.
The large concert hall of the theater could not accommodate even a tenth of all who wish to pay their respects to the wonderful patriot. After numerous requests to repeat the concert for those who failed to get into the hall this evening, Alexander Petrovsky assured the citizens that he is organizing two more concerts in memory of Vasily Slipak ...
